THE SINGERS
TEACHING AND ADMONISHING ONE ANOTHER IN PSALMS, HYMNS, SPIRITUAL
SONGS. Col.3:16.
There are three areas of worship in song which should be active in
the local church.
1. SINGING OF THE PSALMS. Many psalms are being put to music
today.
2. SINGING OF HYMNS, which are the commonly used hymns and
choruses given by the inspiration of the Lord.
3. SPIRITUAL SONGS, (the song in the Spirit). This type of
singing has been restored to the church in this last day
revival and the one which this study is about.
SINGERS WERE APPOINTED. 1 Chron. 9:27-34.
Among those who were appointed to the various ministries and
offices of worship were the singers. A distinct charge was upon
the Singers. There are those today who are called to minister in
song. To those who have a God given talent to sing, He will use
in the local church, if they are dedicated to Him.
INSTRUCTED IN THE SONGS OF THE LORD. 1 Chron. 25:6-7.
A choir of 288 stunning singers, instructed by Heman. Those with
ability to sing were chosen to be trained and taught to sing the
songs of the Lord. This includes trios, duets, solos etc., not
for entertainment, but to bless the Lord and to minister to the
congregation.
EMPLOYED FOR THE MINISTRY OF SONG DAY AND NIGHT. 1 Chron.9:33.
These singers had a definite calling of God. Those who sing must
realise it is a God given ministry and must be prepared to
minister day or night (in season or out of season, ever-ready).
THEY WERE FREE and must experience a continual liberty within
themselves to be able to bring release to others through their
ministry in song.
WAITED ON THEIR MINISTRY. 1 Chron. 6:32.
It is important to give your self to the ministry of song in
prayer, to find the mind of the Lord. Often the singer may sing
forth the mind of the Lord in a service. At times, the song can
bring great victory, or dispel oppression and bring a meeting into
release and freedom. That is why the ministry of the singer is so
important.
RECOGNIZED THEIR PLACE OR MINISTRY. 2 Chron. 35:15.
The singers were in their place, they recognized their ministry in
the Body of Christ and functioned faithfully.
TO REMAIN IN CHAMBERS. 1 Chron. 9:33.
The singers who remained in the chambers were free. Speaks of a
close relationship with the Lord, that singers must have to
operate effectively.
Note. Sol. 2:16, Psa. 19:5, Song of Sol. 1:4, all refer
to Christ our bridegroom coming out of His chamber.
CORN? WINE? OIL? AND SINGERS IN THE CHAMBERS. Neh. 10:39.
Showing that the singers are to have the Corn (knowledge of the
Word), Oil (anointing) Wine (joy), to effectively minister in
song.
A PRIESTHOOD MINISTRY. Neh. 13:5.
Wine, Corn and Oil given to the Levites and singers. Here we see
the portion of the singers was given right along with the portion
of the priesthood. The ministry of song is a priesthood ministry
and plays an essential part in our worship.
SINGERS AND PORTERS TOGETHER. Neh. 12:45.
The singers and porters kept the ward of their God, (performed the
due service). Note here that the singers and porters were
mentioned together. A porter is a "door-opener" and there are in
the church today, those who have the ability to enter into the
anointing, and together with the singers, open the door for others
to receive from God.
SINGERS AT ONE WITH THE 120. 2 Chron. 5:12-13.
At the dedication of the Temple which was on the Day of Atonement,
the singers were one with the 120. (120 speaks of the end of all
flesh). The singers' ministry is not of the flesh but of the
Spirit and will play a vital part in the church at this end of the
age as we approach the Day of Atonement.
SINGERS IN THE RESTORATION. Ez. 2:65.
Along with all who returned to rebuild the Temple, were 200
singers. We are in the time of the restoration of all things.
The ministry of the singer needs to come forth now.
LINGERS AT THE RETURN OF THE ARK. 1 Chron. 15:19,27.
When the Ark of His presence returned to Israel, the singers sang.
Today God's presence is being restored to His people, the ministry
of the singer needs to function at this time.
SINGERS BROUGHT VICTORY OVER THE ENEMY, 2 Chron. 20:21.
Jehoshaphat faces the enemy. He appoints singers to go forth in
the midst of battle and sing about the beauty of Holiness. The
Lord immediately sent an ambushment and overcame the enemy. Here
the ministry of the singer brings victory in the face of
adversity. Also they were told what to sing, showing that those
with this ministry are able to work in with leadership ministry
and sing as they are instructed by the ministry over them. These
singers show a submission to the ministry over them and are ready
to sing when required. They have waited on their ministry. They
are free in their spirit because they remain in the chambers.
They are employed in this service day and night. Always ready to
sing when asked.
